| About Books of Lore: The Series | |||||
| What is it? | |||||
| Books of Lore is a black and white, sword-and-sorcery comic book written by David Napoliello and Kevin Tucker. It has been published as a "series of mini-series," with each group of issues consisting of a self-contained story arc. Each mini-series moves the characters and plot lines forward, but the format also makes it easy for new readers to catch on. | |||||
| What is so great about it? | |||||
| The story. Readers are attracted to the distinctive cover and interior art, but what keeps them coming back are the well-written stories. Books of Lore has often been described as a fantasy novel ... just in comic book form. Each issue is full of excitement, intrigue, and action as fighters, wizards, and thieves interact on a fantasy backdrop full of dragons, unicorns, demons, and much, much more. Yet, care is taken to develop interesting characters and stories that evolve far beyond just mere "hack and slash." | |||||
| Who does it appeal to? | |||||
| Mostly to fans of fantasy, such as readers of books like Tellos, Warlands, Animal Mystic, Lady Pendragon, Books of Magic, and Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated (Note: a Books of Lore story appeared in FFFI #4)—as well as fans of well-written stories, such as readers of the Vertigo line from DC Comics. | |||||
